This post might be delayed a day or two from the norm, a syndrome which could develop into a new norm; we must wait and see.
Anyway, this time we continue with the music on the CD, where we have reached Track 7. This is “Gypsey Davey”, which lasts 3.42 minutes and is included on CD 5 of the 19 CD Box Set. It may be recalled from the posts on “Fotheringay” that this was one of the two bonus tracks on the extended CD version. It is an excellent, beaty, Romany style traditional thing, very tight, and with a most attractive accompaniment.
Track 8 is a Bob Dylan song here titled ” I Don’t Believe You”, which lasts 4.45 minutes, and is absent from CD 5 of the Box Set. This is because Trevor Lucas takes the lead vocal, even though Sandy Denny is quite prominent on the backing vocals. It is a song I immediately recognised as one I had heard done by Al Stewart, on the “Orange” LP I think, where I am fairly sure it is called “You Don’t Even Know Me”. Fotheringay’s is a beatier version, and every bit just as good; splendid stuff.
