Apart from Richard Thompson, the other guest musicians are Jerry Donahue, Pat Donaldson, Gerry Conway, Trevor Lucas, Tony Reeves, Ian Whiteman, Robin and Barry Dransfield, Royston Wood, Buddy Emmons, Harry Robinson and Roger Powell. Not all of these are depicted on the album cover, however.
I have taken a photo of the “ring of faces” in the expanded CD facsimile of the right side inside cover of the LP, and I think it is a bit clearer than the one I showed from the LP a few posts ago. Next time I’ll post that up, with the verbatim identification of them from the expanded CD insert.
Meanwhile a little more on the usual tragedy of girlfriends 22 and 23. One of many difficulties I had with these two is that I had them at about the same time. A stanza from the relevant doggerel:
“You must not go out with two girls at once
They’ll call you a lout, they’ll call you a ponce.”
Dark days indeed, the summer of 1972.
