Not looking good between now and after Easter; rerun of Christmas starting soon, no access this PC, no joy until next UK tax year…..
Still, ways can be found, huh?
Today, a few more words about the music on this lovely album. Inevitably, it is downhill all the way after “Blackwaterside”, but that is no fault of the music.
Track 3 on Side 1 is “The Sea Captain”, a perfectly acceptable Sandy Denny song, and a pure joy to listen to. A shame it could only be an anti-climax.
Track 4 is “Down in The Flood”, a bluesey thing which again shows Sandy at her best; still, not one I care for much.
Similar considerations surround the last track on Side 1, Track 5, “John The Gun”, an absolutely classic Sandy Denny song, and delivered with all the class and skill she showed at this time, but nevertheless one I have never liked very much.
Next time, onto Side 2 of the LP.
