This time, we turn over the LP and start on Side 2, which opens with a typically sombre Sandy Denny song called “Next Time Around”. Piano and bass come in, then the soft drums, and the beautiful, mournful story begins. “Because of the architect the building fell down”. “And then I’ll search, and you won’t be there.”
Track 2 on Side 2 is “The Optimist”, a much more cheerful Sandy Denny song, but just as brilliant as Track 1; this contrast makes a truly fantasic kick off to Side 2. “Next year there will be many flowers, each one much brighter than the one before”.
Track 3 is another classic rocker, “Let’s Jump The Broomstick”. This is the final one of the three that are not blissful for me on the record, but in my opinion this is certainly the best of the three.
