Today I just want to quote John Wood’s captivating comments on the track from the forthcoming album:
“I think it’s great, I really do. It took a lot of talking to get Swarb to do it, but I think he’s delighted the way it’s come out. It’s [sic] really got everything that’s good about Fairport instrumentals, including humour. I suppose the track’s not really representative of the new album. A lot of it is still based on what’s passed, but also, I think it’s going to be a lot more varied, more outward looking. There’s new influences in the form of Trevor and Jerry donahue. Trevor’s going to be up front more, I think doing some vocals, and of course there’ll be new material from him and Jerry’s a really fine guitarist – his roots are in American Country music, so that may provide new influences too. I think the new band’s going to develop into some interesting new things. Really promising.”
Fond of the word “really” huh?
Anyway, all this raised more questions than it answered; Swarb and a couple of guys from the late Fotheringay (see above). What gives?
Next time, the new LP!
