This time, more of Dean Sciarra’s note in the CD insert:
“So along comes this little DAT tape of the band from 1974 playing in Denver at a club called Ebbets Field. The original sound of the recording was pretty bad. I had my doubts that it would ever see the light of day. I tried to master it myself but wasn’t happy. I gave it to a friend – still hated it. Then Jerry Donahue took a shot. Who better to make this sound good than one of the people who played on it? I then cleaned it up a bit and made it sound like it had all been played in one show – which it wasn’t – it came from two different shows in May 1974. But the bottom line is that it sounds pretty cool now.
“So maybe I wasn’t a fan from the start but I am now and will be forever. You can’t hear or love everything. There’s so much music in the world. It’s impossible to hear it all. But we can try.
“After all the work that went into making this CD a reality, I feel certain that you, the consummate Fairport fan will be more than satisfied. This has become my favourite Fairport album and hopefully it will be one of your favourites too. Since I never saw the band play LIVE, I feel like I missed something very special. But as long as I have this CD I will always know exactly what I missed. I can close my eyes and envision these incredible players – feel the fabulous vibe – revel in the artistry that was and still is Fairport Convention
Enjoy!
