Side 2 opens with a strong Trevor Lucas “truckin'” style song called “Iron Lion” (3.27), well up to his usual standard, and a fitting start to the new side. The instrument playing, as ever, is just fantastic.
Side 2 continues with a classic, sombre, Sandy Denny song called “Dawn” (3.42). This is Sandy Denny in her minor key best; nobody else could have done this one. The band excels as usual with a perfect full bodied accompaniment, and the LP notches up yet another winner.
Track 3 is another, but completely different, Sandy Denny song called “After Halloween” (3.38). This a much softer and gentler piece, with a few flattened jazzy chord changes, a bit reminiscent in some ways of “Autopsy” on “Unhalfbricking”. This is yet another brilliant track. Just two more to go; can this amazing standard be maintained?
