Before we reach the Credits page, there is a third, short and most poignant set of notes, which read like this:
“A word from Jill Swarbrick:
I’m writing this on Swarb’s behalf. He’s very, very sorry but he is unable to write something for you…He’s tried listening to it several times but he can’t deal with the emotion it brings up. He says it’s “so very beautiful”. I think hearing Sandy and the band of that era is too much for him at present.
“He thinks it’s an absolutely fantastic recording though and sincerely hopes that you can find someone else to help you. He also mentioned whether you could send him your “Sloth” copy please. Best of luck.
Once again, apologies Thor-Rune.
Best wishes,
Jill Swarbrick
(on Swarb’s behalf)
Dave Swarbrick has had major health problems for some years, but kindly agreed to write some liner notes for us. after a while this mail arrived from his wife Jill. We suggested using this mail instead, as it really says it all. Jill and Swarb agreed.“
