The origin of the title of this tape is derived from a Bob Dylan release known as “The Basement Tapes”, which had come to light some years previously. It was said to be a recording made by Dylan in 1967 (I seem to remember) and which had lain forgotten in a basement somewhere for about 5 years or so. I stand to be corrected on those details.
The cassette came with some splendid notes which unfortunately were not part of the cassette packaging, and have been lost over the course of 2 house moves. Luckily, however, they have been reproduced in the CD release of this album, which I also have, and to which I shall return in due course. Incidentally, I have just noticed that the cassette dates from 1981, and not 1976 as I thought
Nevertheless, Woodworm Records, the publishers of the tape, did include this short legend in the cassette cardboard:
“For purveyors of fine music since the day before yesterday”.
