I was very disappointed with this purchase made on its release in the summer of 1976 (the UK drought months).
Though I did not know it at the time, as mentioned in some fairly recent posts here, the background to this tragic LP is as follows.
In 1974, in a gradual process, Sandy Denny rejoined what was the “Nine” line-up of the group. The rot started to set in, however, at the end of that year, when the drummer, Dave Mattacks, left the band. He was replaced some six months later by Bruce Rowland. Unfortunately, by the end of 1975 Sandy Denny and Trevor Lucas (who was by then her husband) also quit. This left Dave Swarbrick and Dave Pegg and the new drummer. With assistance from the huge list of people specified in the credits [see just above] they put together this aberration. Thank God they saw fit not to tarnish the proper name of the group with it, making it a fitting record that this is not a part of the canon.
Being the sad completist that I am, I do have the CD version of this awful album, which comes with some notes. I shall return to these next time.
