Track 5, which would have opened Side 2 of the LP, is “Sands Of Time” (7.35 minutes). This one fades in to a staccoto beat, with Christine McVie on vocal, and Danny Kirwan on guitar. This elides into some harmonised singing, with some distorted Danny Kirwan guitar. They really try hard to make this one interesting, and partially succeed. It is a nicely varied tune, with some extremely pleasant harmonies, and good use of the guitars. There are recognisable signs of life here!
Track 6 is “Sometimes” (6.25 minutes). This song has a folky intro, and has as slightly country & western feel, with Danny Kirwan on guitar and Bob Welch on lead vocals. The initial tune is inconsequential, and goes nowhere really, until Christine McVie joins in after a couple of minutes, when the band starts to have a bit of a go at it. It is actually something of a foot-tapper, but still nothing to write home about. Danny Kirwan does some backing vocals on this, and indeed on the next one.
