Track 7, “Lay It All Down” (4.32 minutes) is the penultimate track on the album, the CD I have having no bonus tracks. This is actually quite a good song, with Danny Kirwan once more providing some perfectly respectable backing vocals. The intro is an almost hypnotic rock thing, which goes into an acceptable beaty rock song, which works very well. The tune is a strong one, and there are harmonised vocals throughout. This is arguably the best bit of the record.
The album finishes with Track 8 “Show Me A Smile” (3.19 minutes). This is a slow Christine McVie ballad with some short soaring refrains. It is not a bad song, and hints at things to come. It makes a most fitting cadence to this somewhat lacklustre record.
Next time, onto the next album, which seems to feature the same line-up.
