This is where the band goes right off the tracks, for no apparent reason. Track 4 is the Tamla Motown soul classic “(I’M A) ROAD RUNNER”, and is a Dave Walker track. He does it fairly well, but to put it mildly, this is an odd inclusion; I do not know of anything like it anywhere else under the Fleetwood Mac name. Why on earth is it here?
Track 5 is “THE DERELICT”, another one where Dave Walker takes the lead vocal, and he also wrote this song. It has a nice country feel to it, much helped by Bob Weston’s banjo; while it’s not a bad song, it’s certainly nothing special.
I think Side 1 of the LP would have finished at this point.
