I had lost interest in Fleetwood Mac in 1970, save that only in 1974 did I have enough cash to buy the “Greatest Hits” LP, which did not contain any music recorded after that year.
Conversely, Girlfriend 27 [see above] had had no interest in the group in those early days. As mentioned some months ago, I started going out with her on 31 December 1974, and she is now my wife; we celebrate 40 years together in a few days time.
“Rumours” was recorded in 1976, but not released until 1977, when Girlfriend 27, to whom I became engaged that year, bought the LP, along with millions of other people who did likewise all over the world. It is for that reason alone that the record is in the collection we have.
In later years I became much more forgiving and broad minded, and bought the CD release, albeit second hand.
This was to become one of the most successful albums of all time. Frankly, therefore, there seems little point in me saying any more about it. Nevertheless, for the sake of completeness, this is precisely what I plan to do in the next few posts.
