Buying the albums sampled on “You Can All Join In”.
Following my last post, please don’t get me wrong. Enjoyment of music is a highly selective thing, subjective, and essentially personal to the individual. The mere fact that this stuff is not to my taste does not mean that it is devoid of objective worth. On the contrary, the music is unique, original, and performed with brilliant skill and perfect execution. Moreover, incidentally, the group wins the prize for maximum members, there being no fewer than eight chaps in this line up.
There are thirteen tracks on the CD, and as far as I can tell, this was also true of the LP, the CD listing not professing to differ from the original. Two of these were composed by the main man, Mick Weaver, and are indicated by “*”:
1. Jumping Jack Flash
2. Gasoline Alley*
3. Willie and the Hand Jive
4. Harpsichord Shuffle*
5. Baby I Love You
6. This Here
7. Green Door
8. Bad Eye
9. Alexander’s Ragtime Band
10. Tequila
11. The House That Jack Built
12. Hymn to Freedom
13. High Heel Sneakers
Curiously, I think I shall be writing more about this album than any of the others sampled…
