“What we did on our holidays” was the second Fairport Convention LP, and the first on the Island label. I first bought it in early 1971, some 2 years after it was released, and so I have it on the lurid pink label with the big white “i” at the bottom.
The only change in personnel is that Sandy Denny had replaced Judy Dyble. However, the names given are of some interest. Sandy is identified by her full name: “Alexandra Elene MacLean Denny”; Ian MacDonald has become “Ian M. Matthews”; and Tyger Hutchings has become “Ashley S. Hutchings”. The back side of the cover shows a shady coloured photo of the band on stage, with a roadie in the background; and this is the side which has the distinctive “STEREO ILPS 9092″ box, which was usually on the front.
The front, of course, shows a blackboard assaulted by white chalk, with the name in white at the top left:”Fairport Convention”.
It appears that the roadie’s name was Harvey.
