Buying the albums sampled on “You Can All Join In”.
This time, we continue with Ashley Hutchings’ notes in the insert for the deluxe CD:
“The focused British folk-rock style was to follow not long after this record, so what we have here is a young group taking pleasure in singing and playing whatever took its’ [sic] collective fancy, and doing this, I believe, with surprising sensitivity, authority and musicality. I would also add that the trademark unpredictability and whacky sense of fun which marked our live concerts are represented on the album. Make ’em laugh, make ’em cry, make ’em puzzled; that was early Fairport. We had the armoury.”
More from these splendid notes next time.
