As the years rolled on, I came to realise that of all the groups which had used the “Fairport Convention” trading name, the best was the one which recorded “What We Did On Our Holidays”, and no other album. I have always been on the “bands” mailing list, which until a couple of decades ago was a paper/postal one. I was overjoyed in 1987 to learn from such a mailing that some previously unreleased songs by that unique line up was to be made available on LP by mail order. I immediately sent off an order, and sure enough, within a week or two, an LP arrived through the post.
