Buying the albums sampled on “You Can All Join In”.
The expanded CD, of course, comes with some bonus tracks. There are no fewer than 8 of these, almost doubling the length of the record. Only the first of these was recorded in stereo, all the rest are in mono.
That first track is quite a famous song called “The Weight”. This song has always seemed to me to relate to the USA Civil War 1861-1865 and to have a sympathetic leaning to the losing Confederate side. It is a fine song which I first heard performed by the group calling itself simply “The Band”, and was written by one J.R. Robertson, who I think was a member of it. This stereo track comes from an album released in the USA in 1971.
