Buying the albums sampled on “You Can All Join In”.
Today we again continue with the notes written by Patrick Cambell-Lyons, from where we left off last time; here he mentions the album currently being considered:
“The next album that we released on Island Records was titled “All Of Us”. It has my best work vocally and lyrically and a sleeve photograph that has become a collector’s and media talking point.
“I found the photograph in a book at an art exhibition in Bremen, Germany and having managed to purchase the book from the gallery after a lot of persuasion, I had the photograph enlarged and retouched. It is a still shot from a propaganda film, directed by Leni Reifenstahl for Adolf Hitler, depicting all the great leaders of war, at the head of one army, marching through the valley of death. The Dublin group U2 have been working with Leni Reifenstahl images on their recent Zoo Too Tour but I feel they use the images for effect only, and do not understand the artistic merits of her work, which have nothing whatsoever to do with advertising or technology. Leni Reifenstahl war propaganda footage does not make an entertaining backdrop for the “Mono to Bono” show. There are too many freaks, acid-heads, Gurus and students of time travel out there in the crowd who get the wrong message.”
More next time.
