Buying the albums sampled on “You Can All Join In”.
Today we again continue with the notes written by Patrick Cambell-Lyons, from where we left off last time:
“Fantasy is not just around the corner, it was to be found in oneself. As the lyric writer of “Pentecost Hotel”, one of the most popular Nirvana songs and a hit in Germany, Scandinavia and Australia, I was intrigued to read and hear rock journalists and DJs define the lyric as being about LSD, spiritual and “out of body” experiences and I quote from “Sounds” [a much loved pop music paper of the time]…..”What do phrases like “Explosion of the storm upon the sea in red” and “the sunlight spreads blue rays” suggest the Nirvana duo were doing with their doctors’ prescriptions?” In fact, the song is about Island Records and the atmosphere that we all shared there together in the early years…and it’s nobody’s business but mine what I was doing with my doctor’s prescriptions.”
More next time, and it’s a classic!
