Buying the albums sampled on “You Can All Join In”.
Today we continue with “Melanie Blue”‘s notes in the CD insert, where Nirvana have just been offered the job of doing the title theme for “The Touchables”:
“Recording began on the 22nd of February 1968, at Olympic Studios. The new song was to be based on a half-written track called “We’ve Got To Find A Place”. It continued apace, now provisionally called “Omnibus”, with the backing track building to a repeated chorus that was to fade out. The original idea was to have the girls from the film sing the track, at least on the movie soundtrack version, and although various takes were made the job finally fell to Patrick. Having the girls [sic] voices gave the track a lighter sexier feel, and recently discovered tapes show that they were perfectly usable.”
More next time.
