Buying the albums sampled on “You Can All Join In”.
Today we continue with “Melanie Blue”‘s notes in the CD insert, where Salvadore Dali has just made a dramatic entrance into a French TV show in 1968:
“He then went to work – for two hours he spoke to the presenters (in French, Spanish and broken English) while he created images with the paint he had been supplied with in glass jars. Nirvana were splashed and spattered with paint as they became performing art.
“Island records, weeks later, sent an invoice to the French TV company for damages and the cost of cleaning a cello – property of Sylvia Schuster. She should have kept it intact with the paint on, if only they had thought of asking him to sign it. Patrick still has his Dali painted jacket.”
More next time.
