Buying the albums sampled on “You Can All Join In”.
Today we continue with “Melanie Blue”‘s notes in the CD insert, where we resume with her comments on the single “Rainbow Chaser”:
“Elsewhere in the world the track took off – peaking at No. 1 in Scandinavia, and reaching the top 10 in many other countries. “Girl In The Park” was issued as a follow up, and the same backing track was used by Island signings Smoke for their single, which didn’t get issued. With the film of “The Touchables” in the cinemas, Island released Nirvana’s track “All Of Us (The Touchables)” as the new single, at the same time their second LP, also titled All Of Us, was released. The album sleeve design was a very daring and arresting image.
Patrick had found, in an exhibition of Nazi art (in Bremen, Germany), a still shot from a propaganda film, directed by Adolf Hitler’s favourite film-maker Leni Reifenstahl. It depicted a procession of leaders of war, including Napoleon, sweeping through a path lined with the dead. No colours were used – just the grey and darker grey of the original print … which contrasted with the highly coloured psychedelic images on their first LP.”
