Today we finish Billie Ritchie’s notes in the CD insert, written some 20 years ago in 1996. It will be recalled that he was the organist.
“Maybe we had just been on the road too long. We definitely left the stage too early, burnt out by that classic conjunction, some home-grown success swamped by breathtaking American tours. As we stepped down from the plane, it was a symbolic step backwards in time.
“We had a good thing going, my two sidekicks and I – perhaps we took it too much for granted, for I never again experienced the musical communion that was possible with Ian and Harry, and the great concerts we shared can only be replayed in my mind. Of the three musketeers, only Ian is still out there (with Ric Lee and “The Breakers”) doing it for you, because it’s the very meaning of his life. Remember that when you see him.
“This CD doesn’t contain all that I would want – how could it? – but I hope that the creative spirit – the real sixties – is in there somewhere.
“It was an interesting time to be alive.

Behind the CD in the CD casing are some music paper cuttings and quotes, to which we shall turn next time.
