Further facts & info from the liner notes to the expanded CD: there was immediately some frantic UK touring, during which the band picked up a well deserved reputation. Chris Blackwell of Island Records saw them and signed them up without hesitation. Gigs permitting, they did 5 days in Morgan, a London studio, during October 1968, and the LP was completed. The budget was about £800.
Guy Stevens, the producer, named the album with what is apparently a double meaning; it seems the phrase was applied to both delta blues wailing, and Cockney slang for loads of money.
This meteroric rise was due not only to the sheer brilliance of this combo, but also to Andy Fraser’s remarkable business acumen and administrative skills.
