In my view, “Stand Up” is the best Jethro Tull album by far. Indeed, it is one of my all-time favourite LPs.
It was of course the second one by the group, and the first to feature the guitarist Martin Barre.
Ian Anderson has mildly criticised it as the one where they were experimenting with instruments such as balalaikas, but in my opinion that was a splendid thing to do.
Moreover, Ian Anderson was never in better voice than he was here.
And, needless to say, all the tunes are just brilliant.
