Buying the LPs sampled on Nice Enough to Eat.
The last two tracks on Side 1 are respectively Track 3 “Sing Me a Song That I Know” and “The Modern Alchemist”.
The former is of course the track sampled on “Nice Enough to Eat”. This is how Mick Abrahams’ notes describe it:
“Has the quality of hard rock and blues with heavy accentuation on drums and bass from “vulture” Ron Berg and “budgerigar” Andy Pyle. Vocal from yours truly who thought he was Elvis Presley at the time. (A song to squash budgies by).
Track 4 is an instrumental, again one which for many years I found a little too jazzy for my tastes, but again also one which has grown on me. The notes have it thus:
“Completely self-explanatory. Reflects the writer’s personality. Fast, furious, and utterly insane. End part is a slow passage for guitar and tenor. (A ditty to hit your wife on the head with a lump of wood by).”
An accurate description.
