Buying the LPs sampled on Nice Enough to Eat.
Track 3 on Side 2 is “The Change Song” or just “Change Song”, depending where you look on the package. It is introduced by a monologue from Mick Abrahams which starts: “This is a song, like, what I dedicate like to all me mates doin’ a bit of porridge…” and continues in that vein to its end “..and the screws and all.” The song itself is a delightful acoustic guitar country blues.
The relevant notes:
“Was written during my last pleasurable holiday as a guest of Her Majesty. It implies a change of heart which is certainly true as I don’t intend to get caught doing it again. I sincerely think they should make it legal instead of having to steal things like that from honest people’s washing lines. (Music to clean your cell out by).”
