Buying the LPs sampled on Nice Enough to Eat.
I have various versions of this album, but perhaps the most curious is a Canadian version of the original vinyl LP. This is recognisable as the same record, but very different in several respects. This is the record:
First, the front and back of the cover; here, the only thing in common are the pig’s head on the front and the pig’s tail on the back, which are exactly the same, including size and position, except that the Canadian tail is a little lower than the English one. On the front, the background colour is red rather than pink, and the pig’s head is on a blue circle surrounded by a yellow ring. Inside the top half of the yellow ring is the legend: “BLODWYN PIG/AHEAD RINGS OUT”. At the top right appears the Stereo A&M logo and the serial number SP4210.
The back has the same red background, blue circle and yellow ring. In the top half of the yellow ring are the details of the tracks on Side 1, and in the bottom half are those for Side 2. In small block capitals along the bottom of the back cover are the following words:
“Fabrique et distribue par:/manufactured and distributed by: A&M Records of Canada Ltd., 939 Warden Ave., Scarborough, Ontario M1L 4C5”.
The inside of the gatefold cover is different also, with this on the left, incorporating Mick Abrahams’ notes:
and this wonderful photo of the band on the right:
The tracklisting is different too, being the USA one, of which more in due course.
