Mick Abraham’s 2006 notes for the expanded CD commence like this:
“Here we are again folks. I’ve been asked to write some liner notes for this new re-mastered, re-issued, reconstituted album of Blodwyn Pig’s first major offering “Ahead Rings Out” with additional bonus tracks. It contains all the singles that the Blods ever made including the one that got us a slot on “Top of the Pops, “Same Old Story”, and then faded into obscurity within the next three weeks! Well at least there were two positive aspects of that particular record. One was that I got to play on the next stage to Pan’s People, those vivacious dancing temptresses of the late 60’s and early 70’s and I’d always had a big thing about doing something with them. Number two was that my dear old Mum & Dad (yes, I did have parents, not all the rumours are true!) and all my aunts, uncles, cousins, neices, nephews, their friends and their dogs etc, got to see me on prime time telly looking like a singing Christmas tree without the fairy lights, which I thought was pretty cool at the time. Up until then, the only proof that we were playing anything at all on the beeb was when Ron Berg’s Mum used to take photos of the family radio when we were doing a show and proudly display them to anyone who was interested, saying “That’s my son Ronnie playing the John Peel show with his band the Boldwind Peas.”!”
