Buying the LPs sampled on Nice Enough to Eat.
Continuing Mick Abrahams’ notes on the expanded CD:
“There was nearly always an element of silly behaviour surrounding the Blods when gigging, or in the studio and as I rightly recall, these particular sessions were no exception. It’s probably by now one of the oldest gags going surrounding recording sessions, but the first time poor old Ron Berg was asked to do an overdub of some percussion part, he was at a bit of a loss in general, and Ron being a drummer (sorry drummers out there, but some of you do deserve it!) he excelled in this department. The producer asked him to just simply put some cans on (that’s headphones in the trade!) so he could hear the playback and when I looked out of the control room window the silly sod was standing patiently in front of the microphone with a bunch of Coke tins gaffer-taped around his head with the most innocent look on his face I have ever seen! Needless to say, we all ended up rolling around the floor and couldn’t continue working for at least half an hour for laughing – and we didn’t ask Ron to do too many overdubs after that.”
