Buying the LPs sampled on Nice Enough to Eat (the last one!)
Track 1 on Side 2 is “A Tale of Two Orphanages” (3.49). This is an excellent one, and the one on the LP which arguably sounds most like the Incredibles. It is a typically obscure song, and features a character called Harvey. Orphan Annie, as noted in a previous post, is credited on the back cover with the photo. I believe that there is a bit of a story here, revealed on the expanded CD.
Track 2 is the only one on the LP not self-penned. This is “Strings in the Earth and Air” (1.52 or 2.07). In small print on the back cover it is credited: “By permission of the administrator of the James Joyce estate & The Society of Authors. Public Performance Rights Reserved”. This is very good, and again sounds a bit classical. Robin Williamson covered this as Track 1 Side 1 of “Myrrh”, there crediting it to Ivan Pawle, and again the briefly reformed ISB could be seen doing this in 2002.
