Buying the albums sampled on “You Can All Join In”.
Nothing proved the title better than this. Mick Abrahams had left to form Blodwyn Pig a month or three earlier. The band that appears on the sampler cover is the “Stand Up” line-up:
All are along the back row. Second from the left is Glenn Cornick, the bass player common to both bands. Clive Bunker, the drummer common to both bands, was there but is one of the three persons there cut off at the left margin of the cover picture. Third from the left is the new boy, Martin Barre, guitarist, grinning inanely. Second from the right, of course, is the main man Ian Anderson.
Curiously, between the two guitarists a third one stood in briefly, this being Tony Iommi, guitarist with Black Sabbath. He only appeared only once with Jethro Tull, this being in the Rolling Stones’ odd 1968 TV “Spectacular” called “Rock’n’Roll Circus”.
