Pink Floyd and The Incredible String Band.
Pink Floyd.
We were able to obtain a VHS videotape of the “Live in Pompeii” film, in the late 1980s, and we still have a machine which plays these things. This is just as well, as we have many VHS videotapes. Anyway, this is the Pink Floyd one:
I was fortunate enough to have a brief opportunity to watch this tape a few weeks ago, and it really is splendid. It only lasts an hour, and the songs are recorded partly in bright sunlight and partly at night. The pictures include shots of the backs of the speakers, all of which bear the legend “PINK FLOYD LONDON”. I think I also have this on DVD now, but I’m not sure. The tapes are easier to find because of their size.
“Zabriskie Point” was an Italian film, the album being the soundtrack from it, and features The Kaleidoscope, the Grateful Dead, Patti Page, the Youngbloods, Jerry Garcia, Roscoe Holcomb and John Fahey as well as Pink Floyd. More of this next Pink Floyd time.
