Nirvana – “All Of Us” – Original CD insert notes (10)

February 17, 2016 · by listentomusicanywhere

Buying the albums sampled on “You Can All Join In”.

Today we again continue with the notes written by Patrick Cambell-Lyons, from where we left off last time; here he explains how Nirvana got to do the music for “The Touchables”:

“Steve Winwood and the Spencer Davis Group had just completed the music score for a film called “Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush” and representatives of the production company involved in The Touchables came to Chris Blackwell’s office to discuss the possibility of Stevie writing and performing the title song for their film.  Stevie turned it down on the grounds that he was too busy touring and recording a new album.  As the production people left the office with Chris Blackwell, they heard Alex and myself playing around with a demo-recording of a new song called “All Of Us” behind a partition in the music room.  They liked what they heard and said to Chris, “That’s the perfect song for the film”, and asked to be introduced to us.  The deal was signed, sealed and delivered that afternoon in the Soho Square office and we recorded it a [sic] Pye Studios in Marble Arch a week later.  The film came out the following year and the best thing about it was the music soundtrack which featured Nirvana and songs by The Beatles, Otis Redding and Wynder K. Frog [for much detail whom, see above!].
